Our Fall 2026-2027 season opener will be held on Sunday, November 8, at 2PM in the auditorium at Summit High in Bend. We hope you will join us!

Maestro Jonathan Moore and the band will take you on an exploration of our great heritage of American music from a diverse range of American composers. The program is sure to have something for all ages and will leave you humming these melodies for days:

• Band Classics: From Maine to Oregon (John Philip Sousa), American Salute (Morton Gould), and Suite of Old American Dances (Robert Russell Bennett).
• Autumnal Favorites: Eric Whitacre’s expressive October and Frank Ticheli’s Amazing Grace.
• Popular Selections: Music from The Incredibles (Michael Giacchino), Maple Leaf Rag (Scott Joplin), and selections from West Side Story (Leonard Bernstein).

Support the Winds

The members of the band feel that it is important that music is accessible to all, therefore our performances are free and open to all listeners. However, we still have production costs associated with our concerts. As a result we rely on individual and corporate donations as well as fees from the musicians themselves to support our operations. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and all donations go towards our direct operating expenses. No funding goes toward administration of the band which is fully supported by volunteers from within the group and the Central Oregon community.

Greetings Cascade Winds Supporters!

I am honored and excited to serve as the new music director of the Cascade Winds. Over the past decade of making music in Central Oregon, I have developed a deep appreciation for this remarkable community and the people who make it such a special place. The Cascade Winds serves as a vital gathering place for both audiences and musicians. My goal is to deepen our connection to this community through inviting programming, initiatives for youth, and a continued commitment to musical excellence.

I believe strongly in presenting programs for all ages and perspectives. I look forward to sharing concerts with a mix of band classics, Pops favorites, and music by living composers. I am grateful to call Central Oregon home and look forward to continuing to serve, inspire, and connect our community through music.

Our wildly popular silent auction is back again this fall! Bid for items and experiences created by Cascade Winds band members.  The timing is perfect for finding gifts for those hard-to-buy-for friends and relatives!

The auction will be held in conjunction with our fall concert, Sunday, November 8, at 2PM in the auditorium at Summit High School in Bend. This is our only fundraiser for the year, and we are excited to add this event to our schedule. Various items and experiences provided primarily by members of the Cascade Winds will be on the docket – another way to support the ensemble and its musicians. You may bid before the concert and during intermission, then pick up your winnings immediately after the concert.

As you know, admission to all Cascade Winds performances is free. However, there are significant expenses each year including hall rental, music purchase, and scholarship assistance for players. We are extremely grateful for individual and corporate donations that support our work, and we would, once again, like to count you among our dedicated supporters.

All donations made to the non-profit Cascade Winds Symphonic Band Association go directly towards operating expenses for the ensemble and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. The Cascade Winds is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Moore as Music Director and Conductor of the Winds.

A respected conductor, educator, and advocate for music education, Moore brings extensive artistic and leadership experience to these roles.

“I am honored and excited to serve as Assistant Professor of Music at Central Oregon Community College, Music Director of the Central Oregon Symphony and Cascade Winds, and Principal Conductor of OperaBend,” said Moore. “Over the past decade, I have developed a deep appreciation for this remarkable community and the people who make it such a special place. I am grateful to call Central Oregon home and look forward to continuing to serve, inspire, and connect our community through music.”

Born in Nice, France, Moore began studying piano and French horn at an early age and was raised in a family of professional artists. He earned Master of Music degrees in Instrumental Conducting and French Horn Performance from Southern Methodist University, where he studied conducting with Dr. Paul Phillips. He also holds degrees in French Horn Performance and Political Science from the University of Florida.

Moore previously served as conductor of the SYZYGY New Music Ensemble in Dallas, Texas, where he led performances of contemporary chamber orchestra repertoire and premiered numerous new works. He has worked as a cover conductor for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Meadows Symphony Orchestra and has participated in leading conducting programs, including the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Burgos International Music Festival, and the Monteux School and Music Festival.

For more than a decade, Moore has been a dedicated leader within Central Oregon’s arts community. As Music Director of the Central Oregon Youth Orchestra and High School Music Director at Redmond Proficiency Academy, he oversaw significant growth in student participation and artistic achievement. He has also performed with the Central Oregon Symphony and worked with both the Sunriver Music Festival and OperaBend.

Moore lives in Bend with his wife, a fellow horn player in the Central Oregon Symphony, and their young son. Outside of music, he enjoys backcountry skiing, cycling, traveling, and playing jazz piano.
