Rehearsal this Thursday

To the Cascade Winds:
Thank you for your continued hard work and support! I leave the rehearsal each week a little drained but very enthusiastic. You are all such wonderful people and musicians. Thanks for spending your Thursday evenings playing music! We all have a fairly good idea of the concerns in each piece. We simply need to take care of the details of cleaning up technique (fingers) and balance (dynamics).
Here's what is on tap for this week's rehearsal:
1. Brief warm up
2. Marriage of Figaro
3. Heroes, Lost and Fallen
4. Symphonic Dance - Fiesta
5. Lincolnshire Posy
6. Hounds of Spring
7. Valdres
I do have a couple of concerns that I would like to address here:
- Attendance. I'm sure that this bothered Michael Gesme too. I know with everybody's busy schedule that there might be a specific rehearsal that you might not be able to attend. If you need to miss a rehearsal, the polite thing to do is to notify me or Jan Tuckerman prior to your absence. That way I will know if I need to adjust what we rehearse. At the beginning of the term, you were asked to make a commitment to attend. Please continue to attend, and please be there early so we can start on time.
- Music. If something does come up and you are missing a rehearsal and you have the only copy of music for that particular part try to get your music to the rehearsal. Call someone that is coming and have them bring it, or drop it by Kate, the Fine Arts secretary in Pence, during the day or slip it under her door if she isn’t there with a note to put it in Michael’s box.
- Clean up. Each week there have been a few people that have arrived early and set up the band. These people deserve a special thanks from all of us. I really do appreciate your time. As we get ready to leave each night, please take a couple of minutes and help put things away. Please do your part to clear the space we use.
Thank you again for your continued hard work and enthusiasm! See you Thursday!
Dave
