Posted on 07/09/07

What says summer in the USA more than a warm summer evening sitting on the grass with the rousing sounds of band music filling the air? The Cascade Winds Symphonic Band presents two free concerts in July that feature patriotic tunes, marches and music of America. The programs feature something for everyone with a broad range of entertaining music perfect for all ages.

The band presents two outdoor concerts Thursday, July 12, 7:30 p.m. at the Inn of Seventh Mountain and Thursday, July 19, 7:00 p.m. on the Village Green in Sisters. Music includes the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, Battle Hymn of the Republic and, of course, Stars and Stripes Forever. Colin Lippy returns to direct his fourth summer season with the Cascade Winds. A Bend native, Lippy has broad musical experiences including two degrees in performance and time spent as a music instructor at Sky View Middle School, the University of Oregon, Crook County Middle School and will soon be joining a military band program.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Seating is provided at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain but bring your own chair to Sisters. Information: 593-1635.
