President's Message

Hello Everyone. Winter concerts are upon us. The first will be in Bend at the Pinckney Center for the Performing Arts on the COCC campus, Saturday, March 6th, at 7:30pm. The second will include a special treat for all of us. The Sisters High School Band will perform several pieces they’ve been working on in preparation for an upcoming competition. Join us on Sunday, March 7th, at 3pm in the Sisters High School auditorium. Tickets for both shows are free, and may be reserved by calling me at 389-2035, or email yoleo@email.com. If the phone message is generic, it’s because the cat stepped on the answering machine again, and turned off the greeting. If you leave a number I will confirm your reservation. I especially urge you to reserve Saturday night tickets, because we were near capacity in Pinckney for our last concert.

Donations
I am writing our 501(c )(3) application to submit to the IRS to gain tax-deductible status. I don’t anticipate any problem with the application, so you can send us donations now, and I will send you a letter once we receive our status, so that you can officially write off your donations for the 2004 tax year. Some of the expenses the band has are hall rental, ticket and program printing, postage, application fees (the 501 will be a big one) and participation fees.

Help Needed
Our Secretary over extended herself and cannot perform the duties of her office any more. Our Board needs a new Secretary, and a Member-at-Large. We would like to have people from the community serve on the Board, because a wide variety of viewpoints is important to our success. We meet once a month, on the second Tuesday of each month. Secretary duties include attending meetings, taking minutes, typing up minutes and presenting them to the Board, and maintaining permanent records. The position only requires about three hours per month. The Member-at-Large position requires attending the monthly meeting, and whatever committee work the member takes on.
